CLOU UHB UNIVERSAL WOOD STAIN (HOLZBEIZE)

Characteristics: Ready-to-use, water-based, lightfast, acrylate-based pigment stain with a long shelf life and with deep grain staining. Can be painted over with all CLOU wood lacquers; also with water-based lacquers using the brush method, without causing the pigments to be flushed out.

Areas of Application: For uniform, pore-deep colouring of all commercially available interior hard and soft woods. There are 17 standard shades available as per the sample sheet as well as numerous special shades.

Drying (at 20°C and 50% relative humidity)

Dust dry: 30 minutes

Recoatable: 12 hours

Cleaning: Clean equipment immediately after use with clean water or CLOU® AQUA Cleaner (especially for dried lacquer residues).

Storage/Disposal: Store in properly sealed original containers in a cool place protected from frost.  Can be stored for 2 years in original sealed containers.

Pretreatment: After the usual moistening and drying of the wood, sand with grain size 120–150 and carefully remove any dust.

Application: (Surface temperature > 15 °C, moisture content of wood 8–12%)
Stain should be thoroughly stirrred or shaken before and also during use to ensure colour consistency.

Spray application: Either spray the UHB Stain with even saturation lengthways over the whole surface and after 1-2 minutes spread and even out with long strokes of a very wide and soft brush, or dry spray the stain in such a way that the surfaces are evenly moist, but need no further evening out.

Brush application (for smaller surfaces): Apply the UHB Stain with a flat soft staining brush lengthways, crosswise and again lengthways. After 1-2 minutes, spread the surplus stain using long strokes of a clean, dry, very wide, soft brush in the direction of the grain to even out any differences in the wood absorption.

Drying: (at 20°C and 50% relative humidity)
The stain is completely dry after an overnight drying period. The drying period can be reduced by ensuring air movement and raising the temperature.

Finish: UHB Stain can be painted over with all CLOU® wood lacquers. Water-based lacquers can also be applied by brush without causing the pigments to wash away. The corresponding CLOU® datasheets are to be observed.

Special Instructions: Always stain and paint a sample piece of wood. Wood is a natural material. This means that differences in the colour of the stain may occur. Natural deviations are not reasons for complaint.

Safety Instructions: Do not allow to drain into the groundwater or sewage system.

Special Instructions: Any of the shades of the UHB stains can be mixed together to form intermediate shades. Tinting with UHB colour concentrate. Lightening with UHB colourless.

The corresponding CLOU® datasheets are to be observed. Water-based paints are not as wetting as solvent-based paints, with the result that comparatively different shades may result. White, light grey or delicate, faint colours should only be painted over with CLOUCRYL or water-based paints. Using CLOUCRYL with UV absorber additive no. 4471 will actually slow down the yellowing of the wood.
